On 08.10.2025, the Salem District Central Cooperative Bank’s Elampillai branch successfully conducted a Cooperative Literacy Awareness Camp. The event aimed to educate the public and bank customers on essential financial topics such as financial planning, responsible borrowing, savings, loan advisory services and banking facilities. New account holders, including those under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), were briefed on available benefits and features. The camp also addressed the financial needs of farmers, members of farmers’ self-help groups, small entrepreneurs, senior citizens, school children, and youth from specific segments. Detailed explanations were provided on loan schemes tailored for each group, procedures for availing loans and the advantages of opening savings accounts, fixed deposits and recurring deposits. Participants were informed about safe deposit locker facilities, women-centric loan schemes, student savings and loan products and special loan schemes for persons with disabilities. Additionally, the camp raised awareness on the use of ATM cards, Kisan Credit Cards (KCC), debit cards, OTP authentication, AEPS (Aadhaar Enabled Payment System), QR code payments, mobile banking, internet banking, RTGS and NEFT fund transfer systems.
