The Financial Literacy Awareness Programme was conducted at S.S.124 Vazhavanthi Hill Tribes Large Sized Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society, in Yercaud, Salem district, organized as part of the International Year of Cooperatives, with a special focus on promoting Specialized Cooperatives in Pulses, Oilseeds, Fruits and Vegetables. During the programme, tribal members were sensitized on financial literacy topics such as opening of savings accounts, types of bank accounts and their benefits, fixed and recurring deposits, locker facilities, various loan products and procedures to avail them, women self-help group loans, student-specific savings and loan schemes and special credit facilities for differently-abled persons. Awareness was provided on digital banking services including ATM cards, KCC, debit cards, OTP usage, AEPS, QR Code, mobile banking, internet banking, RTGS, NEFT and payment of premium under Central Government Insurance schemes.
